Access to quality and convenient healthcare are two key components that create a healthcare destination. As a one-stop shop healthcare system, Fargo-Moorhead combines premier medical services and state-of-the-art facilities with the more exclusive, cosmetic surgery and non-essential procedures.
Take a look at what makes Fargo-Moorhead a healthcare destination we can all be proud of.
When the new Sanford Medical Center building, expected to opens in 2017, Sanford will become the only facility to offer Level I trauma services, and the only facility between Washington and Minnesota with that distinction. “Care close to home is the best care,” said Executive Vice President of Sanford Health Paul Richard. “And we are committed to providing the best care possible. If we don’t deliver, we consider it a learning experience and an opportunity for growth.” The new center will include additional heart, pediatric and women’s services spread throughout the 380-bed facility. The 11-story building is located south side of I-94 at the intersection between Veteran’s Boulevard and 51st St. in Fargo, N.D.
Essentia Health, another Level II trauma center based in Fargo, offers critical care, surgery, pediatrics and women’s health services in a 104-bed facility. Essentia is Fargo’s first hospital to offer interventional neurology, which is the use of high-tech imagery and tiny catheters to open blood vessels in order to prevent stroke. In addition, Essentia is an accredited Advanced Primary Stroke Center.
Fargo VA Healthcare System
When it comes to healthcare, the VA Hospital shares the sentiment that being home is best. “The VA has been transforming the care system from an illness-based system to a whole healthcare system,” Human Resource Director Jason Wells said.” To do this, care is shifting to the veteran’s home and community using a number of innovations. Each primary care team has ready access to telemedicine, telehealth to the veteran’s home, home-based primary care, My HealtheVet website and increased use of preventative and integrative therapies used to achieve health goals.”
Wells also said the VA hospital’s top priority is not only high quality patient care, but accessibility for the 89,000 veterans living in North Dakota. “VAs across the country recently signed myVAaccess Declarations, committing to achieving same-day, clinically appropriate primary care and mental health services as needed,” he added. The services include appointments, over the phone medical advice, prescription refill services, and walk ins.
